Those Crazy Days of Summer (Recap)

I wouldn't exactly call this a quick recap, but once you see what we did all summer, I think you'll see that it's a pretty quick one (and you'll understand why I had pretty much no time to blog!)

June:

We spent a good deal of this (very hot) summer swimming, so it seems fitting that the first pictures are of us in the pool:

Hannah has quite a few friends her age but we don't have any Hailey's age, so we joined a playgroup with friends we met at the breastfeeding support classes. They are all around Hailey's age. This was a fun luau-themed party. I am not posting pictures of her friends because I didn't ask for their permission:

Next it was on to a fun baseball game with Mare, Zane, and the kids:

After that, we headed to visit our friends, Nick & Ashley. Hannah and Hailey loved playing with their kids and it was so good to see them. Here we all are at their zoo:

At the end of that month, we went to Touch a Truck with Mare and the boys:

Another playdate with Hailey's friends, water-themed:

Ending out the month, we had some time to play at home (Hannah is serving Hailey food):

And some time to play at the playground:

July:

We started out July by visiting Rob's family. The little ones were not so excited about the picnic but the big kids had fun playing with their (second) cousins and splashing in the water. Even the really big kids had a good time playing croquet and kickball:

We ended up leaving a little early so we could come home and catch Bennett's 1st birthday party. It was a month late (held on July 4th instead of June 4th) but everyone had a good time. We even put on fireworks, although the only ones interested were the adults. Bennett was indifferent, Hailey was terrified, and Hannah would rather catch fireflies:

The rest of July we did a lot swimming again, sometimes with friends, sometimes with family, sometimes by ourselves:

We also had a visit from Aunt Jen (who will kill me when she sees that I posted how Hannah dressed her up - love you Jen!):

And Hannah was also a flower girl (for the 3rd time - she's becoming a pro!) for Rob's cousin's wedding. By the way, this might be the most tan I've ever been. How sad, LOL:

August:

We started August with our friends Dustyn & Emily visiting with their kids. Unfortunately, the boys took both cameras with them to their gaming stuff so we have no pictures. However, we did have lots of fun and it was definitely better to spend 4 days hanging out with friends than 4 days sitting home alone while Rob went out and played games. Anyway, since August is back-to-school time around here, we got Hannah's hair cut:

Spent some more time swimming since we knew our days in the pool were numbered:

Went to the library with Mare, Zane, Carrie, and the kids:

Went to Fair Oaks Farm with Amy and kids:

And we went to the State Fair with the Ben, Amy, and the kids. They had a Japan exhibit this year, which was really cool since I took Japanese for 5 years. They let the kids dress in kimonos. Then we ate some dinner (the real reason I go to the fair - yum!) and went on a few rides:

At the end of the month, Rob's parents were nice enough to get us all tickets to The Wizard of Oz at their civic theater. They even got a babysitter for Hailey (the first real babysitter we've ever left either kid with!) and Paul, Marie, Joe, Anne, Rob, Hannah, and I all went to the show. Hannah loved it, but kept making funny comments like "Don't they know lions don't talk?" "That doesn't look like a tornado, that looks like people pushing a house on wheels" and "I'm never watching this again, it's too long!" She did love it though and is even going to be Dorothy for Halloween this year:

On to the zoo! We went with Mare and Carrie and the kids:

We also went to a safety fair with Mare, Zane, and the kids where the kids got to sit in a real helicoptor, use a fire hose with a fireman, and get a free bike helmet:

September:
For Labor Day weekend, we headed up to Rob's family again (different family than before) and checked out the beach. Paul and Marie drove and since we were in their van, we had the DVD player. Hailey loved the headphones and when we got there, both kids got a big kick out of the beach. Hailey wasn't a fan of the sand at first, but by the end, she was playing in it. Unfortunately, it was cold and rather windy so the waves were choppy so there wasn't much swimming. Hannah (in a lifevest), Rob, and Rob's cousin Zach braved the water on the first day but that was it:

At the end of the month, Hailey was into helping me cook:

We spent time playing with Great Grandma and Grandpa Jordan:

And finally the kids had fun playing in our backyard a lot. Hannah showed Hailey how to swing on her stomach, which she gets a great kick out of and Hailey loves watching the ducks:

This really did just scratch the surface of all the fun stuff we did this summer. There are many other things we did with friends and family where I didn't even break out the camera. We had a fun and very busy summer, but are looking forward to fall. I hope everyone had as great of a summer as we did!
