2 Months

Hailey had her 2 month appointment last week. She is now 12lbs 15oz and 23.5 inches, which is the 90th percentile for both. She wears 3-6 month clothing. She is smiling, cooing, swinging closed fists at toys, tracking as you walk across a room, and grasping things when they get close to her hand. She is not a fan of tummy time but is pushing up and lifting her head off the ground well when she is in a good enough mood to tolerate it. She is having issues with her left neck muscle. It is tight and causing her to hold her head to the right, which is flattening one side of her head. She will be receiving physical therapy to help correct this so she doesn't end up in one of those awful helmets until age 1. The doctor said this happens a lot to babies who sleep well (go figure) but my mother-in-law brought up a good point about it possibly relating to the shoulder dystocia. Definitely something to ask since this problem was actually originally brought to our attention at her 1 month appointment, meaning she has probably had it since birth. It has just gotten worse since then. :( Anyways, everything else about the appointment went well. She got 2 shots and an oral vaccine and she only cried for about 3 seconds. We will see the pediatrician back in a month to reevaluate the back of her head.

Andrew does the same thing and always puts his head to the right. Every time we put it back to the left, he immediately goes back to the right! This is one of the items his physical therapist will be working on too! I hope they both improve and neither have to wear these awful helmets that you speak of! Yipes!
