Last Day of School!

All ready for the last day of school:

Hannah had Field Day.  They each got to choose two things to compete in.  Hannah chose the hula hoop but was having a bit of trouble because of the wind:

She also chose the long distance run and got second place:

Hailey enjoyed getting to eat a snow cone:

After dropping Hailey at her preschool, I came back to eat a picnic lunch with Hannah:

The two little girls next to her are her best friends, Avah and Aubrey.  The little girl next to Aubrey is another classmate and friend, Lillian:

After Hannah's recess was over, I popped back to Hailey's class for her last day.  Here she is doing Bingo at a station:

She loved making a fruit kabob:

Hannah's 7 Year Appointment

Hannah's 7 year appointment went well.  She was 55lbs and 51.5 inches.  The doctor was impressed with her reading skills and discussed with her things like gun safety, stranger danger, bad touches, etc.  It appears that we may need to discuss gun safety with her a little more - since we don't have guns, we haven't said much about it except to leave them alone.  When the doctor asked if a friend asked her to play with a gun, what would she say, Hannah correctly answered that she'd say no.  The doctor then asked what if that friend said let's just look at it and hold it and Hannah said that would be okay.  Whoops.  Anyway, she did great.  I did ask about body odor because sometimes I can smell a little when she runs around a lot and the doctor said that it was not an indication of puberty (whew) and that some kids just need deodorant sooner than others.  I think for now, we'll stick to making sure she showers at least every other day and directly after any major exercise.  If it gets worse or she starts to notice it, no big deal, we'll just pick up some deodorant at the store.  Hannah did do the eye chart just fine but we will still take her to the eye doctor this summer.  Since she was borderline needing glasses last year, I think there is a chance she'll need them this year, but we'll see.  Hannah was being goofy most of the time, but the appointment went great!  As long as there are no shots for her, Hannah loves seeing the doctor, (her birthday twin!).  We'll be back next week with a new baby!

Hannah's Birthday Party

I have to admit that the best way to get your party wherever you want is to have a mom who is 39 weeks pregnant.  There was no way I was hosting a house full of people while this big and Hannah had been asking for a Chuck E Cheese party for 2 years now, so she got her wish.  It was really fun, although I missed being able to make her cake for her.

Here is the birthday girl, ready to play:

Skee ball is fun:

38 Weeks And A Big Decision

Today was my 38 week appointment.  We decided to do a size ultrasound to see how big this baby would be so we could make a better decision about an induction or c-section.  It was so cool to see him one last time on ultrasound and you could really see some of his features.  According to the ultrasound, he was measuring just below 8.5lbs (this can be wrong up to a pound either way but it was pretty accurate for the girls) and his head was measuring 41.5 weeks.  Yikes!  We reviewed what went wrong during Hailey's birth with Dr. Wagner and talked about his recommendation.  He stated from the beginning that a c-section was safer for the baby but was pretty non-committal about what we should do.  He did say if we were to do an induction, it would have to be exactly 39 weeks to keep the baby's weight down.  That was not ideal for me because exactly 39 weeks would be May 30th, which is the last day of school for both girls.  They both have school programs for me to attend and I'd really like to attend them if possible.  If baby comes on his own, that would be different, but if I was choosing, I'd prefer Friday (May 31) or that next Monday (June 3).  I was also concerned because of baby's head (and therefore shoulder) size.  Finally I asked Dr Wagner what he would want done if this was his wife and child and he said c-section so that's what we chose.  Since size doesn't matter for that, we decided to give ourselves the weekend to do fun things with the girls as a family of four and decided on June 3.  The c-section was set for 4pm.  Only a week and a half to go now - so excited and happy and nervous!

Happy 7th Birthday!

I can't believe our big girl is already 7 years old!  Being due any day now with another baby makes me think of when she was born and it's just amazing to me that 7 years has gone by so quickly.  Here we are, celebrating by having lunch together at school:
