Children's Museum With Friends
We had friends in town this past weekend and we had a great time. I didn't think to take many pictures while they were here but we did bring our camera with us when we decided to check out the Children's Musuem.

Hailey's First Trim
Everyone has been encouraging me to cut Hailey's hair. It really has grown in a mullet form but it's hard for me to cut the only progress she has made toward real girl-length hair. Still, I always thought it would fill in from the top before getting any longer in the back, but that's not what has happened. It is finally filling in from the top but it's taking it's sweet time, and all the while, the hair in the back was getting longer and longer. I hated the idea of trimming it because she gets called a boy a lot as it is (even in pink or purple), but I looked over tonight and realized that I couldn't really deny that it really did need a trim. It was just a quick few snips at home, but I do think it looks a lot better.
Before (no, I did not, nor have I ever, made her stand in the corner - no idea why she did that, LOL):

Puzzles & Reading: Two Smart Little Girls
Hailey has discovered a love for puzzles. She got most of the pieces in the correct spot on the first try, which I thought was pretty impressive since we've never done puzzles in front of her (Hannah and I do puzzles occasionally but after Hailey is in bed because she has a tendency to Godzilla them, which Hannah does not appreciate). Hailey was also having fun saying the noises animals make - too cute!
Hannah has been sounding out words for over a year now. In fact, it may be almost a year and a half since she first learned the sounds that all the letters make. We have spent the time since then encouraging, but not pushing, reading. At first, Hannah would look at us like we were crazy. We would help her sound out the word and then say the word and it just wasn't clicking. Well it has now clicked and she is off and reading! Some of the words are sight words but I am posting the video where she sounds out a few of the words.
So proud of our little girls!

Hannah's Birthday Request
The kids' birthdays are coming up, so naturally we have been watching closely to see what Hailey likes and we have been helping Hannah make a list. Hannah has asked for several reasonable gifts, which is good since there will be several people asking what to get her. What was funny was a conversation we had the other day while working on her list. Hannah asked for another little sister. Now, she didn't mean it like some siblings mean it - she wasn't asking us to replace her little sister. No, instead she likes her little sister so much that she wants another little sister. In fact, she got upset when I wouldn't write it on the list and got even more upset when I told her that only Mommies and Daddies get to decide on those types of matters. It was hard not to laugh while she's arguing with me about putting it on the list, reasoning that her grandparents really like her and Hailey and would probably really like to get her another sister. It ended when she finally told me that if I wouldn't write it on the list, she would just ask her grandparents herself. Ha!
Grandparents, if this comes up with you, you have now been warned so be prepared! ;)
