Random Pictures
A few random pictures from the last few days.
Hannah at her friend's birthday party. They got to dance, play games, and dress up. She was in heaven:
Hannah and Hailey hanging out. And yes, Hannah dressed herself:
Dinner time - for dinner that night, we were enjoying tacos so I took out a little ground beef before adding the seasoning. She had ground beef, tomatoes, cheese, peas, and water for dinner. She loves peas so she ate all of those first but she did eventually eat almost everything on her tray:
Hannah and Grandma sharing a favorite pasttime - they both love to put together puzzles:
My favorite picture of this week - Hannah and Hailey with their great grandparents. So cute:

Playing
Hailey has recently realized how fun it is to play with others. Here she is playing "catch" with Daddy and Hannah. If you listen closely, you'll hear Hannah say that Hailey likes to pass the ball to her because she loves her. I think she's right!

Babbling!
I have been getting a little concerned about Hailey's babbling, or really, her lack thereof. I know babies do things on their own timeline, but when you see the chart at the doctor's office that says they should start babbling at 6 months and you haven't heard a single thing other than "aaaa" at 10 months, it's a mother's prerogative to worry a little. Anyway, Monday was just a normal day. Hailey was giving the normal "aaa" and that was it. Yesterday, it was like she had a language explosion. It started when I thought I heard "duh-duh" from her early that morning and it was confirmed later in the day as she started babbling consonants of all kinds. Suddenly I was hearing "ga," "la," "da," "duh," "ma," "buh," "ha," etc. Today she has been talking up a storm, even saying "dada" a few times. It's so funny that my baby wasn't saying anything 2 days ago, and now she is "talking" non-stop! Too cute!

There It Is!
Here it is - tooth #1! It's on the bottom middle left (her right) if you are having a hard time seeing the tiny white bump.

I made a close-up photo to help:
By the way, until recently, I have thought Hailey's eyes were blue. However, the more I look at them, the more I think they may be more grey than blue (each eye also has a brown "freckle" near the pupil).
Grandpa Jordan has grey eyes and I think it's pretty special!

Food!
Hailey is kind of over baby food. Don't get me wrong, she'll eat it and we do sometimes still feed her the jarred baby food when we are having something that isn't very baby-friendly (like our tacos last night). However, she really prefers what we are having. If it comes off Mommy's fork or Hannah's plate, well that's just icing on the cake. Here is an example of her meals today. Notice all the big-girl things she is eating these days:
Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with cheese and half a piece of dry toast
Snack: Blueberries
Lunch: Vegetable soup (just the vegis out of it, not the actual soup part), mandarin oranges, and a small piece of Mommy's toasted cheese and ham sandwhich
Snack: Yogurt melts and Cheerios
Dinner: Salmon, broccoli, and canned mixed peaches and pears
Obviously these are all things that Mommy doesn't necessarily have to feed her. Hailey likes to feed herself and I admit that it's nice not to have to try to hit her mouth with the spoon!
ETA: By the way, just so you don't think I'm massively over-feeding my baby, she only really gets a few bites of each of these things. She definitely stays within the 4oz or so that she would eat if it were baby food; she just likes the variety and feeding herself. :)

One Small Step...
Today Hailey took her first step. She was walking around, holding on to Rob's fingers, when they approached me. She let go of Rob's hands and took one step towards me. She attempted a second step but it wasn't quite as successful as the first step (and I caught her mid-fall). I wanted to get it on video so I could post it, but we haven't had any repeat performances yet. Still, I'm very proud of my big girl! What a big step for us all!

Happy (Almost) 10 Months!
Hailey broke her 1st tooth today, just in time to celebrate her 10 month "birthday" tomorrow. Pictures to come some day when you can actually see. ;)

A New Favorite Pastime
Hannah has recently found a love for puzzles. She has never been big into puzzles - she would put the wooden ones together here and there (usually under my suggestion) but she just was never all that interested in them. That was fine with me, certainly not all adults have the same interests and so I can't expect kids to have the same interests, but I did think it would be nice if she enjoyed puzzles since it's a quiet toy that isn't very messy. Well suddenly Hannah as decided that puzzles are fun. She really enjoys putting them together and can do smaller puzzles (less than 50 pieces or so) by herself. This is a larger puzzle (100 pieces) that we put together. I am still trying to get her to understand why doing the outside pieces first are easier but I'm sure that will come with time. For now, we had fun putting this puzzle together and she loved that it had princesses on it. And Hailey only tried to eat the pieces like 5 or 6 times. Here is Hannah standing proudly behind the completed work:

A Work Of Art
Hannah has really gotten into drawing things these days and recently they have actually begun to look like real drawings, as opposed to scribbles. Here is her self portrait. Notice her attempt to write her name at the top:
I was pretty impressed with her stick figure - it rivals my own stick figure drawing skills!
